On this special Sunday every year everyone is honored with a special gift to thank for stewardship and to look to the future and what we can do.  We begin our financial campaign for 2009, so watch your mail for a letter from the stewardship committee.

                                            ADVENT BEGINS
                                                November 30th
Advent is the first season of the Christian year when we anticipate the birth of Jesus Christ.  If your family, extended family, or friends would like to light one of the weekly Advent candles, please see Pastor Jim.

BIBLE STUDY - MON EVES - TUES MORN
We continue with our weekly Bible Study.
Our Advent Bible Study will begin on Monday, December 1st at 7pm.
The Rev. states, "One of my favorite Christmas traditions is watching the classic 'It's a Wonderful Life' starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.  I love the warmth, humor, and the underlying spirit of love and friendship of the film.  Even after watching it for so many times, it still brings tears to my eyes."
You are invited to join us during the four weeks of Advent in our Bible Study using the film as the back drop of our study.  As always, refreshments will be served.  We need a count, so there will be a sign up sheet that will be posted in the Narthex beginning November 14th.  Plan on eating goodies from that time period.
Each Monday evening we will visit George Bailey, and Clarence in Bedford Falls.  The movie will be broken into four parts and our study will include such topics as: redemption, angels, God Goodness, love, and fate.
If you do not attend the regular Bible Study join us for "A Wonderful Life" this Advent Season.

The United Church of Christ acknowledges as its sole head, Jesus Christ, Son of God and Saviour.  It acknowledges as kindred in Christ all who share in this confession.  It looks to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to prosper its creative and redemptive work in the world.  It claims as its own faith of the historic Church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers.  It affirms the responsibility of the Church in each generation to make this faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God.  In accordance with the teaching of our Lord and the practice prevailing among evangelical Christians, it recognizes two sacraments:  Baptism and the Lord's Supper or Holy Communion.

We offer communion the first Sunday of every month.  The bread and the cup of communion are signs of Jesus' presence.  We believe that when Christians are gathered in worship and share the bread and cup, Jesus is especially present with us.  It is a reminder of Jesus, who said, "I will be with you."  Children and parents decide when children participate in communion.

Baptism is a sign that God loves us and cares for us and wants us to be a part of God's family.  Parents bring their children to be baptized.  Sometimes grown-ups are baptized, too.  When we are baptized, we become a part of God's people, God's church.  We belong to God and to the whole big family of Christians throughout the world.

If you would like to be baptized please join us in worship and know the love of God.
